Kansas City’s men’s soccer program has been recognized in the latest United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, landing at No. 25 with 18 points collected from coaches across the country. The achievement marks the first time a Summit League side appears in the national rankings, underscoring the program’s rapid rise after capturing the league title in 2025.
The upcoming slate features three top‑ranked opponents: No. 2 NC State on the road in October, No. 15 SMU in early September, and No. 18 San Diego at home later in the month. These matchups will test the Roos against some of the nation’s strongest competition.
Before the first competitive match, the Roos will test themselves in an exhibition against Rockhurst on August 11, followed by their season opener against SIUE on August 20. The early games provide a chance to fine‑tune tactics and build momentum.
Fans can purchase season tickets for in‑person games at Durwood Soccer Stadium starting at $60, offering an affordable way to support the team throughout the campaign.
A demanding road ahead
Confronting multiple nationally ranked squads will test the Roos’ depth and resilience, but the coaching staff remains confident that the early challenges will sharpen the squad for the remainder of the season.
With the preseason poll already reflecting respect from coaches nationwide, the team hopes to translate that recognition into on‑field success as they navigate a rigorous schedule.
