Wright State University’s baseball program announced a series of coaching appointments that could reshape its approach on the diamond.
Head coach Alex Sogard revealed that Luke Arnold will return as an assistant coach focusing on infield duties. Arnold, who previously played for the Raiders and earned all‑league honors, contributed to five straight regular‑season titles and four NCAA tournament appearances.
Zac Butler is also coming back, this time in the role of Director of Player Development with an emphasis on catching. The senior catcher finished his career with 43 games played, a .254 batting average and a memorable home run against No. 19 Tennessee.
A New Era of Coaching
Myles Martinez joins as Director of Pitching & Program Development. After a five‑year stint at Ohio Dominican and Dallas Baptist, Martinez was named NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All‑American in 2023 following a 1.23 ERA and seven saves.
Sogard highlighted Arnold’s championship pedigree and Butler’s hands‑on playing experience, while Martinez will oversee pitching strategy, nutrition and overall program growth. The trio is expected to reinforce the Raiders’ competitiveness in upcoming seasons.
