The move follows a mixed experience at Bowman Gray. The inaugural Clash there drew sell‑out crowds, but the February 2026 race was marred by snow and ice, forcing delays and raising safety concerns. Despite the weather setback, the event managed to generate significant attention, underscoring the appeal of bringing a high‑profile NASCAR date to a smaller, urban track.
Funding the Future
Revenue from the Clash will be funneled into a multimillion‑dollar video board slated for installation at Bowman Gray Stadium. The upgrade aims to modernize the venue’s broadcasting capabilities and enhance the fan experience, ensuring that the stadium can continue to host major NASCAR events in the years ahead.
Looking further ahead, the remaining years of the agreement could see additional NASCAR events — such as an All‑Star race or a Truck Series date — scheduled at Bowman Gray, expanding the venue’s role within the national series calendar.
