Cross Hanas, a 24-year-old forward who spent the last four seasons with the Texas Stars, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
During the 2025-26 campaign he posted a career-best 15 goals, 23 assists and 38 points in 56 games, a performance that helped the Stars reach the Calder Cup playoffs, where he contributed two assists in five appearances.
Hanas entered professional hockey after being selected second overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2020 NHL Draft, a testament to his early promise.
His four-year pro résumé includes 41 goals and 47 assists for a total of 88 points, spread between the Texas and Grand Rapids affiliates, giving the Bruins a proven scorer who can also generate playmaking opportunities.
What the Deal Means for Providence
The Bruins view the addition of Hanas as a chance to inject youthful energy into a roster that has been seeking a spark, and his familiarity with the AHL’s competitive pace should make the transition smoother.
