The American Conference has released the full 2026‑27 women’s basketball schedule for the Charlotte 49ers, outlining an 18‑game conference slate that blends home and road challenges.
Conference slate and key matchups
Conference play opens on December 30, 2026 and will run through March 6, 2027, giving the team a compact but intense schedule.
Charlotte will meet six opponents twice, facing in‑state rivals such as East Carolina, Memphis, North Texas, Tulane, UAB and Wichita State on both home and away nights, while also hosting Florida Atlantic, South Florida and UTSA for single matchups.
The remaining three conference foes — Rice, Temple and Tulsa — will be visited on the road, providing the 49ers with a balanced mix of environments.
Coaching staff and player roster
Head coach Tomekia Reed, now in her third season, will guide a squad that returns key contributors Zoe Best and Ja'Navia Gage and welcomes new additions Da'Brya Clark and Mariah Sain.
The roster also includes standout performers such as Princess Anderson, who earned third‑team all‑conference honors last year, and Tanajah Hayes, a newcomer recognized on the All‑Newcomer Team for her playmaking.
Player profiles and expectations
Best led the team with 59 three‑pointers last season while Gage contributed over eight rebounds per game, giving the 49ers a potent inside‑outside threat.
Clark arrives with a reputation as an All‑MEAC First Team selection and HBCU All‑American, while Sain, a McDonald's All‑American nominee, brings a high‑school championship pedigree from Muskegon.
Veteran guard Charish Thompson, a Big West All‑Freshman honoree, adds depth and experience to the backcourt.
Looking ahead
With a schedule that balances home support and challenging away trips, the 49ers aim to improve on a 14‑18 record from the previous season and contend for a postseason berth.
