A bold new chapter in sports media
Clay Travis is preparing to roll out a new sports media platform just before the start of the football season, a move that will fuse his syndicated radio program with a freshly launched podcast.
The initiative, currently operating under the working title Sport & State, will feature three hours of daily video content drawn from The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, as well as the Hutton & Withrow program.
Travis announced in April that he had filed a trademark for the Sport & State name, specifying its use for sports and political news coverage, signaling a clear intent to carve out a distinct space in the media landscape.
The timing aligns with the opening weekend of college football, which begins with a Dublin matchup between North Carolina and TCU on August 29, followed by the NFL kickoff in Seattle on September 9, providing a high‑visibility launch window.
Travis, who sold his former outlet OutKick to Fox in 2021 for $100 million, remains a contributor to Fox Sports and a regular on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff, but the new venture will operate independently of that ownership.
Beyond his broadcasting work, Travis has authored books such as Balls: How Trump, Young Men, and Sports Saved America and Republicans Buy Sneakers Too, and he has become known for outspoken stances on issues including transgender athlete participation, which have drawn both criticism and a dedicated following.
Industry observers note that the platform’s recruitment of sponsors and partners is likely to lean heavily on Travis’s established network in the sports betting sector, a space he has previously leveraged to expand his media footprint.
With a blend of sports analysis, political commentary, and a strategic rollout tied to the season’s biggest moments, Sport & State aims to position itself as a disruptive force in a market that continues to evolve rapidly.
