A historic sweep
The Thomas Worthington field hockey squad etched its name into Ohio high school history by securing its fourth straight championship, a feat unmatched by any program in the state's annals. In the 2025-26 title game the Cardinals edged Upper Arlington 3-1, a victory that not only reinforced their dynasty but also denied the Patriots a first state crown in 35 years.
Sophia Borghese was the offensive engine, finishing the season with 122 goals and shattering the program’s single-season scoring record. Her relentless attack helped the Cardinals pull away in the second half and cemented her status as one of the most prolific scorers in recent memory.
Other championship highlights
The voting results underscored the Cardinals' dominance, with Thomas Worthington earning 65.2% of the ballot while Danville softball and Hilliard Bradley softball trailed with 22.7% and 10.2% respectively. Danville’s Addy Bocock struck out 323 batters and earned first-team all-state honors, guiding the team to a 2-0 nine-inning victory over West Jefferson and marking the third straight year the squad reached at least 23 wins. Hilliard Bradley entered the postseason as the top seed in Division I, outscoring its first three opponents 37-1.
In lacrosse, DeSales captured a third consecutive Division II championship and set a new state record with 429 goals, the highest total ever posted in a final. Liberty’s Megan Benton led her team with 99 goals and 10 assists during a 14-game winning streak that highlighted the squad’s balanced attack.
Upper Arlington also added to its trophy case, winning the Division I soccer championship in a nail-biting finish over Cincinnati Seton and contributing to a swimming and diving sweep that saw the team accumulate 310 points, comfortably ahead of runner-up Mason.
