The Venice Basketball League is preparing to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a free Legends Weekend scheduled for August 8‑9 at the iconic courts along Ocean Front Walk in Venice Beach, California.
A Milestone Celebration
The weekend will bring together a blend of professional players, streetball veterans and emerging talent, offering youth clinics, women’s league matchups and a series of contests that highlight both grassroots energy and seasoned expertise.
Saturday’s program, titled Women’s Legends Day, includes an all‑star youth game, a showdown between the Venice Women’s League and the Women’s Drew League, and appearances by WNBA athletes alongside former NBA standouts.
Sunday’s schedule centers on Ron Beals Day, featuring a complimentary youth clinic led by Tristan Jass, Craig Smith and Cedric Ceballos, while streetball legend Skip to My Lou will also mentor participants.
Legends Take the Court
The festivities expand to include 40‑plus and 50‑plus age‑group tournaments, a three‑point shootout, a dunk contest judged by Kadour Ziani and Cedric Ceballos, and a celebrity game that promises high‑flying excitement for spectators of all ages.
International competitors will join local heroes in the dunk contest, adding a global flair to the weekend’s roster of talent and reinforcing the league’s reputation as a hub for diverse basketball culture.
Beyond competition, the event is anchored by live music, community activations and a celebration of the league’s two‑decade contribution to the local basketball scene, aiming to inspire the next generation and foster lasting community connections.
