A Game for a Cause
The Play Like Bray Foundation will stage its third annual charity hockey game on August 29 at the PSM Ice House in Fort Wayne, bringing together alumni, former teammates and the community to honor a young player who lost his battle with brain cancer.
Braydin Lewis, who grew up skating at the same rink before moving on to the USPHL with the Metro Jets, inspired everyone who knew him with his love of the sport and his resilient spirit.
The event is organized by former Fort Wayne Komets player Adam Lewis and his wife, who founded the nonprofit in memory of Braydin and now direct its efforts to assist families facing similar diagnoses.
Ticket prices are set at $25 for adults and $10 for children, with all proceeds earmarked for treatment costs and future athlete support programs that carry forward Braydin’s legacy.
A parallel fundraiser will take place on August 14 at Dutch Bros Coffee in Auburn, where each beverage sold will contribute $1 to the foundation, expanding the reach of the charitable drive.
Beyond the ice, the foundation’s work has sparked conversations about brain health and the importance of early detection, reflecting the lasting impact Braydin had on teammates, coaches and the broader hockey community.
