Former Basketball Star LaDarius Godbolt Commits to Ottawa University for Men’s Volleyball

After dominating on the basketball court, Godbolt follows his lifelong passion for volleyball at the collegiate level.

A Unexpected Pivot

LaDarius Godbolt, a standout from Tascosa High School, earned co‑district player of the year honors in basketball last season, a testament to his skill on the court.

Although the University Interscholastic League does not sponsor boys volleyball, Godbolt spent countless hours with a club team in Lubbock, often driving two hours round‑trip to compete and to send highlight reels to college coaches.

His love for volleyball, however, dates back to middle school, when he first discovered the sport’s fast pace and teamwork, and he has never lost that enthusiasm.

A New Chapter

Now, after a rigorous recruitment process, Godbolt signed a national letter of intent to join the men’s volleyball program at Ottawa University in Kansas, citing the school’s commitment to both athletics and academics.

He says the transition from basketball to volleyball feels natural, noting that the latter offers a blend of excitement and competition he finds unmatched.

At Ottawa, Godbolt will step onto the collegiate stage with a unique blend of experience, bringing a basketball mindset to the volleyball court. Coaches expect his versatility and work ethic to make an immediate impact.
