Academic Excellence Recognized
UCLA's men's and women's soccer programs have once again been celebrated with the College Team Academic Award, marking the ninth straight year that both squads have earned this distinction for the 2025-26 season.
The women's team posted a collective GPA of 3.29, the highest among its peers and the sixth consecutive season the Bruins have achieved this level of academic performance.
Leading the charge on the academic front, Kara Croone was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, highlighting the caliber of student-athletes who balance rigorous coursework with competitive play.
On the men's side, the team maintained a 3.25 GPA, earning the award for the ninth straight year. Kevin Box also received Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors, reflecting the program's consistent academic rigor.
The women's program has now been recognized in 15 consecutive seasons, a testament to sustained excellence both on the field and in the classroom. Head coach Ryan Jorden, who has led the program for eight years, has overseen a culture where academic accolades are as routine as victories.
Looking Ahead to the New Season
The upcoming 2026 campaign kicks off for the Bruin women on August 12 against BYU, while the men open their season on August 20 at Virginia, setting the stage for another year of competition and scholarship.
The United Soccer Coaches award, which recognizes teams with a collective GPA of 3.00 or higher, continues to serve as a benchmark for collegiate soccer programs striving for excellence in both athletics and academics.
