Ben Allison, a 23‑year‑old forward from Halifax, Nova Scotia, is poised to return to the Maine Mariners for the 2025‑26 season after completing a standout collegiate career at Saint Mary’s University. During his final year with the Huskies, Allison recorded 50 points in 30 games, showcasing a blend of speed, playmaking and scoring touch that caught the attention of the Mariners' management.
From Campus to Pro
Allison's transition to professional hockey began with a seven‑game stretch in the ECHL during the regular season, where he contributed a goal and an assist. Prior to that, he logged seven games with the Wichita Thunder in 2022‑23, earning three points, and honed his game in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League with teams such as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and the Gatineau Olympiques.
A Family Legacy
The forward follows in the footsteps of his father, Scott Allison, who enjoyed a 14‑year professional career spanning 18 ECHL games and 245 AHL appearances from 1992 to 2006. Growing up amid that background, Ben developed a deep appreciation for the game and a work ethic that has now earned him a second contract with the Mariners.
The Mariners, an ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins and their AHL counterpart Providence Bruins, will look to Allison to add depth up front as they aim for a playoff push. General manager Ben Ruzicka praised Allison's collegiate production and his familiarity with the organization, noting that the forward "fits the culture we’re building in Maine."
