A Rising Star in the Class of 2028
Damian Mojica, a 2028 four‑star basketball prospect from Yonkers, New York, has quickly become a focal point of recruiting conversations across the country. His early exposure to high‑level competition and a series of scholarship offers from elite programs have marked him as a player to watch.
During the 2024 EYBL circuit, Mojica posted averages of 15.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 62 percent from the field, numbers that have helped elevate his national ranking to No. 94 and the top spot among New York power forwards.
The momentum continued when Syracuse’s coaching staff, including head coach Gerry McNamara and assistant Ben Lee, observed him at the Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina, leading to a scholarship offer from Purdue, a Big Ten program that reached the Elite Eight in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
A late‑June campus visit to Syracuse allowed Mojica to meet basketball legend Carmelo Anthony, an encounter that underscored the university’s genuine interest and added a personal dimension to his recruitment.
Rankings services now list him as No. 1 in New York and within the top tier nationally, and he is expected to receive additional visits from multiple college teams during the upcoming fall recruiting period, further cementing his status as a cornerstone of the 2028 class.
Mojica currently attends The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., a member of the NEPSAC, where he balances academics with elite basketball development, positioning him for a high‑profile collegiate career.
