A former basketball coach at Cold Springs High School has admitted to committing a series of sexual offenses against a teenage student, bringing a disturbing case of abuse to the forefront of the community.
Paige Adams, 34, entered a guilty plea to two felony counts of a school employee engaging in sexual contact with a minor under 19, as well as three counts of distributing obscene material to a student, according to court records.
Legal Proceedings and Sentencing
The court imposed a combined sentence of 96 months, with 84 months dedicated to the sexual contact charges and 12 months for the obscenity violations, to be served concurrently. Adams will spend one year behind bars before entering a period of supervised probation.
In addition to incarceration, the judge ordered the immediate revocation of Adams’ teaching license and mandated registration as a sex offender, ensuring long‑term monitoring of her movements.
Prosecutors noted that the plea agreement spared the victim from a prolonged trial, while also allowing them to dismiss several remaining charges. The case has sparked renewed conversations about safeguarding students within extracurricular programs.
