NASCAR is set to return to Iowa Speedway for a high‑profile weekend in early July 2027, headlined by a Cup Series race on Independence Day. The event forms part of a three‑day schedule that also includes the JR & Co. 150 ARCA Menards Series contest on Friday and the Hy‑Vee Perks 250 on Saturday, creating a full slate of racing action.
The centerpiece, the July 4 Cup race, follows a string of sellouts in 2026 that demonstrated strong fan demand for the track’s unique layout. Organizers say the weekend will cement Iowa’s place on the national motorsports calendar and showcase the state’s growing role in the sport.
New Surface and Fan Upgrades
A key element of the weekend is the debut of a brand‑new racing surface. After the 2026 Cup Series event, the track will undergo a full repave, a project that will begin immediately afterward and is intended to preserve the venue’s reputation for close‑quarters competition while ensuring longevity for future events.
Alongside the surface work, the speedway is investing heavily in fan‑focused upgrades. New fan areas, expanded suite inventory and an enhanced Newton Club are designed to improve comfort, hospitality and overall experience for attendees.
Ticket sales reflect the excitement surrounding the weekend. The Sunday Cup race has already sold out, while limited tickets remain for the Saturday ARCA event and the Friday ARCA race, giving fans a chance to secure seats for the supporting series.
State officials are highlighting the economic impact of the event. Governor Kim Reynolds praised the weekend’s contribution to Iowa’s tourism and its promotion of E15 fuel, underscoring the race’s role in advancing clean‑fuel initiatives and regional development.
The 2027 NASCAR weekend will also feature the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, adding another layer of competition and giving teams additional opportunities to test setups on the freshly prepared track.
