USA Sports is reshaping how fans experience NASCAR by introducing a live analyst who will sit inside the pace car during selected Cup Series races in 2026. The move builds on a series of production upgrades the network has rolled out in recent years, including Pit Box broadcasts and enhanced post‑race coverage.
Inside the pace car
Former Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne will occupy the driver’s seat of the pace car, offering real‑time observations and analysis when the field is bunched up or when a caution period begins. His presence is intended to give viewers a perspective that has never been available from the traditional broadcast booth.
The initiative will debut with the Iowa Corn 350 on August 6, a race that will open a slate of 14 events USA Sports plans to air across the season. Ten of those races are slated for USA Network, with the remainder distributed across its streaming platforms.
A broader push for immersive viewing
Beyond the pace‑car role, USA Sports is expanding its NASCAR portfolio to include post‑race burnout interviews, extended studio segments, and radio‑style broadcasts that aim to deepen fan engagement. The network is also supporting grassroots efforts such as the ‘My Track My Roots’ program, which highlights local racing communities.
The schedule will culminate with the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Homestead‑Miami Speedway on November 8, providing a high‑stakes backdrop for the new production elements. By integrating Bayne’s in‑car insights with these ancillary features, USA Sports hopes to set a new standard for sports broadcasting in the United States.
