A Competitive Edge for Rural Programs
The program, which first gained national attention when Inola High School captured a $1 million transformation of its playing field in 2022, is now inviting schools to apply for a share of the money before the September 18 deadline.
Prize allocations include a $1 million grant earmarked for a complete football‑field makeover, $25,000 awards for each of the 40 schools that reach the finalist stage, $250,000 for the four division champions, and $5,000 for each of the 1,000 weekly winners.
Interested districts can submit their entries through a dedicated online portal, where they will be asked to outline their facility needs and community impact plans.
Beyond the financial incentives, the competition has already demonstrated tangible benefits; Inola’s recent upgrades featured a new stadium, modernized weight room, and improved lighting, all of which have boosted student participation and local pride.
