Murfreesboro’s Miracle Field, a dedicated space for special‑needs athletes, has just completed a major surface upgrade that promises a safer, more reliable playing environment.
A Safer Playing Surface for All
The new turf replaces the previous pour‑in‑place rubber coating and is engineered to withstand light rain, allowing games to continue without interruption. Its enhanced durability also reduces maintenance costs, ensuring that the field remains playable throughout the season.
The renovation was finished in time for the league’s opening day on August 21, just weeks after the field first opened in May 2017. At that time the complex already featured a tee‑ball field and a surrounding playground, and it now supports twelve teams and roughly 130 participants who rely on the venue for organized play.
Future Enhancements on the Horizon
Plans are already underway to add new picnic tables and chairs, modern playground equipment, and a wheelchair‑adapted swing. These additions aim to create a fully inclusive recreational area that serves families and caregivers as well as the athletes themselves.
The project was overseen by Brittany Garrett and Thomas Laird of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation, who coordinated the installation with The Surfacing Group. Their leadership ensured that the work met both safety standards and the specific needs of the special‑needs community.
With the upgraded surface now in place, the field is set to host its inaugural season of inclusive baseball and tee‑ball games, marking a milestone for community sports that prioritize accessibility and safety.
