Thousands of fans gathered under the Nevada sun on Saturday to take part in the Wolf Pack’s annual fan festival at Mackay Stadium, turning the campus quad into a lively hub of activity despite the summer heat.
Players spent the afternoon signing memorabilia, guiding children through drills and answering questions, with head coach Jeff Choate underscoring that building ties to the community remains a cornerstone of the program.
The event also served as a preview for the team’s upcoming black alternate uniforms, set to make their debut in a nationally televised matchup against New Mexico on Nov. 6, a design choice that originated from a spontaneous brainstorming session during a 1,300‑mile bus tour earlier this year.
Organizers noted that the festival arrives just four weeks before the Wolf Pack’s season‑opening game against Western Kentucky on Sept. 5, a date that marks the start of a campaign that Coach Choate hopes will be defined by both on‑field performance and off‑field engagement.
Beyond the spectacle, the gathering highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering local connections, with families and alumni alike enjoying the chance to meet the athletes who represent Nevada on the national stage.
