The LCFC Methow soccer side captured the 13U division of the Wenatchee Apple Cup over the weekend, securing its second straight tournament victory after the Tukwila Cup three weeks prior. The win underscores the team’s rapid rise and growing reputation in regional youth soccer.
A Victory Built on Teamwork
The squad moved through the preliminary rounds with convincing margins, posting a 12‑0 win over Brewster, a 3‑1 triumph against Wenatchee FC (Red) and a 7‑1 drubbing of Valor FC (Kent‑Auburn). Each match showcased an offense that clicked early and a defense that tightened as the tournament progressed.
In the championship match the team edged Wenatchee Red 3‑0, with Dylan Sands delivering a penalty kick and adding another goal, while Leo Pacheco and Wiley Carr each found the net twice, including a striking strike over the keeper. Their contributions highlighted a balanced attack that proved difficult for opponents to contain.
Defensively the side showed marked improvement, a effort highlighted by goalkeeper Levi Covell’s two shutouts and the steady presence of Charlie Lott, Huxley Walker, James Walls and Chloe Kolman. Coach Kevin Kolman praised the squad’s evolving combination play and noted that the chemistry was clicking as the season progressed.
Looking ahead, the club plans one more tournament before shifting its focus to the Washington Premier League, a move scheduled for after Labor Day, while the 18U boys also celebrated an Apple Cup championship powered by Bodie Thomson, Eldon Smith, Ezra Rowan and Leatham Peterson.
