Sun Belt Announces 2026‑27 Women’s Basketball Schedule
The Sun Belt Conference revealed its full slate for the 2026‑27 women’s basketball season, confirming that James Madison University will contest eighteen contests from early December through early March. The schedule was released alongside details of the conference championship, which will once again be staged at the Pensacola Bay Center in Florida.
JMU’s campaign opens on December 19 with a road test at the University of Louisiana Monroe, followed by a home debut against Georgia Southern on December 22. Both opponents proved formidable last season, with Georgia Southern capturing the Sun Belt regular‑season crown and the two teams meeting again later in the year.
Among the highlighted matchups is a January 2 rematch against Troy, a game that promises another chapter in their growing rivalry, and a January 9 showdown with Louisiana Tech that marks the first ever meeting between the two historic programs within the conference.
The championship tournament will return to Pensacola Bay Center from March 2 to March 8, featuring all games at the venue for the seventh consecutive year, giving fans a concentrated weekend of high‑stakes basketball.
Season tickets are now on sale through JMUTickets.com, where buyers can select seats via an interactive map, while single‑game tickets will become available to Duke Club members on October 5 and to the general public on October 7.
JMU enters the season with a storied pedigree, boasting the fourth‑most wins in NCAA Division I history, while Louisiana Tech’s Lady Techsters sit just behind with 1,251 victories, underscoring the competitive backdrop of the upcoming schedule.
