The Hawks are gearing up for the 2026 campaign with a clear message from the coaching staff: leadership will be defined by work ethic, accountability and commitment, not merely by the armband.
Following a team vote, three players — Emily De Almeida, Loren Gehret and Cadi Hoke — have been entrusted with the captaincy, each bringing a distinct style of leadership that reflects the squad’s diverse strengths.
Emily De Almeida: The Midfield Anchor
A two‑time team captain, De Almeida has started every match over the past two seasons, logging 38 consecutive appearances. Her presence in the midfield has yielded three goals per year and four career assists, providing both stability and creativity.
Loren Gehret: The Playmaker
Gehret returns for a second year as captain after being recognized on the CAA All‑Rookie and All‑CAA Third Teams in 2023. He led the team in assists last season with five, complementing two goals and embodying the hustle the coaching staff values.
Cadi Hoke: Defensive Pillar
Hoke’s first term as captain comes after she cemented herself as a full‑time starter in 2025, anchoring a back line that recorded seven shutouts. She topped the team in minutes played with 1,604, underscoring her durability and reliability.
The trio’s selection was driven by a team‑wide vote that emphasized effort, responsibility and dedication. Coach Kylee Flynn praised the captains for their complementary approaches, noting that their leadership will be pivotal as the Hawks set high expectations for the upcoming season.
Season Opener and Fan Experience
Monmouth’s 2026 campaign opens at home against Manhattan on October 12. The match will be streamed live on FloCollege at 6 p.m., with free admission for fans who wish to support the team in person.
