Titans Prepare for 2025 Season with Optimism and New Defensive Direction

Coach Steve Markie blends returning starters and fresh schemes as the team looks to improve on last year’s 4‑6 record.

Under the steady guidance of Coach Steve Markie, now in his third season, the William Hall High School Titans are gearing up for the 2025 football campaign. After a 4‑6 finish in the L Conference last year, the team is looking to build on a foundation of experience while embracing new challenges on both sides of the ball.

Returning Offensive Core

The Titans will field six returning offensive starters, giving the unit continuity and chemistry. Among them, quarterback Noah Kabakoff steps into the starting role after having backed up Tommy Hussey, who graduated following a standout season that saw him surpass 1,500 passing yards.

The receiving corps remains deep, anchored by Spencer Boucher‑Zazzaro, Lincoln Ruel and Jordan Scher, who will provide reliable targets for Kabakoff. Senior running back Ben Carlson is expected to shoulder the rushing attack and also anchor the defense as a linebacker.

Defensive Overhaul

A significant shift is underway on defense, as the team transitions to a 3‑4 scheme. While the new alignment requires adaptation, the squad brings experienced players who are well‑versed in multiple positions, easing the learning curve and preserving defensive stability.

The schedule presents a tough slate, featuring matchups against traditional rivals such as New Britain and Southington, as well as other L Conference foes including Platt, Shelton, Manchester, Enfield, Bristol Central, Wethersfield, Berlin, East Hartford, South Windsor and Conard. Four of the team’s losses a year ago were decided by single digits, underscoring the fine margins that define the competition.

Home games will be played at Robert S. Chalmers Stadium on the William Hall High School campus in West Hartford, Connecticut, where the community looks forward to rallying behind the Titans as they seek to convert optimism into wins.
