Kory Mincy, a senior point guard who grew up in East Point, Georgia, is stepping into a pivotal leadership role for the University of South Carolina men’s basketball program.
A Transfer With a Vision
After transferring from George Mason University, where he earned second‑team All‑Atlantic 10 honors and averaged 14.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, Mincy brings a proven blend of scoring and playmaking to Columbia.
His collegiate journey began at Presbyterian College, where as a sophomore he posted 15.0 points and 4.4 assists per game, earning honorable‑mention All‑Big South recognition and laying the groundwork for his current responsibilities.
Leadership On and Off the Court
Coach Lamont Paris selected Mincy from the transfer portal not only for his statistical production but also for his vocal leadership and ability to foster chemistry among a roster filled with newcomers eager to prove themselves.
Mincy’s competitive spirit was on full display in a memorable matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he scored 27 points and dished out four assists, underscoring his confidence and readiness to lead.
Beyond the hardwood, Mincy plans to work with children in recreational facilities after his basketball career, aiming to give back to youth in his neighborhood and beyond.
Off the Court: Community Commitment
His background in early childhood education, reflected by an undergraduate degree in INTS from George Mason, fuels a genuine desire to mentor youngsters and promote sports as a vehicle for personal growth.
