Missouri’s defensive line enters the 2026 season with a mix of proven veterans and promising newcomers, following the departure of three starters — Zion Young, Damon Wilson II and Chris McClellan — who helped anchor the unit last year.
Among the returning pieces, tackle Sterling Webb stands out as the most experienced, having logged extensive snaps at both defensive end and interior positions. His ability to generate pressure has already deepened the Tigers’ pass‑rush options, while Marquis Gracial and Jalen Marshall provide additional versatility along the line.
A Revamped Front
Coaches Chop Harbin, in his first year with the program, and Brian Early, who previously oversaw a feared pass rush under Johnny Walker, are counting on breakout performances from Darris Smith and Daeden Hopkins. Both players have added bulk during the offseason, with Smith touted as a speed rusher who now brings added power to the edge.
The edge‑rusher room also benefits from eight transfers, including Mark Hensley and Donta Simpson at tackle, as well as Jaden Jones, Demarcus Johnson and Malik Bryant at edge. Their arrival adds depth and competition, pushing the existing roster to new heights.
Inside the trenches, the defensive tackle group retains depth from Sam Williams, Elias Williams and Jason Dowell, while freshmen Tajh Overton and Jocques Felix arrive to replenish the rotation.
