A Season Built on Continuity
The Florida Atlantic Owls are entering the new campaign with a rare degree of stability. For the first time in program history the team returns its entire coaching staff and starting quarterback, giving the offense a solid foundation heading into the season.
Coach Zach Kittley’s tempo‑driven scheme and an aggressive defensive philosophy have been the focus of spring practices. Over the summer the roster gathered for football schools and camps, allowing veterans and newcomers to mesh while the coaching staff emphasized fundamentals and physical play.
The numbers tell a compelling story. Sixty‑five percent of the roster returns, as do 65 percent of the offensive snaps and 56 percent of defensive production. That continuity translates into confidence, especially along the line where senior edge player Jay Crable, who weighs between 240 and 245 pounds, brings a dynamic presence, and running back Brady Tillman III, nicknamed “Steady Eddie,” adds a sharp, reliable burst to the backfield.
Defensively, the unit is making strides. Returning starter Leon Hart Jr. and other veterans are finding ways to make plays when the pads come on, while younger contributors are learning the tempo and intensity demanded by Kittley’s system.
Beyond schemes, the Owls stress teamwork, communication and brotherhood. The camaraderie forged during fall camp has created a culture where every player feels accountable, and the coaching staff believes that chemistry will be a decisive factor on game day.
