Oscar Cluff, the 6‑foot‑11 Australian center who helped Purdue reach the Elite Eight, has signed with Glint Korfez Basket in Turkey for the upcoming season. The move places him in the Basketball Super League, where he will contend for minutes in a league known for its competitive imports and fast‑paced style.
A Fresh Start in Turkey
During his three‑year stint at Purdue, Cluff emerged as the Boilermakers’ most reliable rebounder, averaging 7.8 boards per game and contributing 17.3 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Big Ten tournament that culminated in a conference title. His presence helped the Boilermakers finish the season with a 30‑9 record and a run to the Elite Eight, underscoring his impact on both ends of the floor.
His professional trajectory took a tentative turn when he joined the Houston Rockets for the NBA Summer League, where he posted 4.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, sharing the court with fellow Boilermaker alumni Braden Smith, Trey Kaufman‑Renn and Fletcher Loyer. The experience gave him a taste of NBA intensity and broadened his skill set ahead of the overseas transition.
The move to Turkey also marks a reunion with Purdue’s coaching philosophy, as head coach Matt Painter, who recruited Cluff from South Dakota State, praised the player’s work ethic and highlighted the program’s role in preparing him for overseas competition. Painter’s emphasis on disciplined rebounding and interior defense appears to have resonated with Cluff as he adjusts to a new basketball culture.
Cluff expressed appreciation for his collegiate experience, describing Purdue as an elite program that shaped his development and expressing optimism about adapting to the Turkish style of play. He joins Glint Korfez Basket with the aim of continuing his growth, contributing on the glass, and helping the club compete in both domestic and European competitions.
