The Lynnville‑Sully Hawks baseball squad capped a remarkable campaign, finishing 25‑4 and securing a spot in their fifth straight substate championship game.
At the heart of the offense, JD Richards dominated the competition, batting .541 and ranking ninth across the entire Class 1A landscape, a performance that placed him at the top of the team’s hitting chart.
On the mound, Brody Borg emerged as a workhorse, posting a 5‑1 record with a microscopic 0.68 earned run average, earning first‑team all‑district honors for his efforts.
Connor Deal contributed a .655 on‑base percentage, the best in the class for his position, and amassed a team‑high 56 total bases, underscoring his ability to get on base and drive the offense forward.
Utility player Carsen Kottenstette added a .438 batting average, stole 12 bases and was recognized on the second‑team all‑district squad, while also hitting two home runs and drawing seven walks throughout the year.
The team’s success was not limited to the field; Jack Bowlin earned a place on the second‑team academic all‑state roster, reflecting the Hawks’ commitment to scholarship as well as sport.
Collectively, the Hawks’ blend of power hitting, reliable pitching and disciplined play defined a season that will be remembered as one of the most competitive in recent district history.
