A season of milestones
The 2025 campaign will be remembered as a turning point for Ferris State athletics. The women’s soccer squad closed the year with an 8‑5‑6 record, securing their 18th GLIAC tournament appearance and capturing the program’s first regular‑season conference championship under head coach Greg Henson. The Bulldogs also made two NCAA Tournament trips and, for the first time in school history, reached the national semifinals.
The volleyball team matched that momentum, finishing the season at 27‑8 and advancing to the Elite Eight for the second straight year. Their fifth Elite Eight appearance in program history underscored a sustained level of excellence, while the team also claimed the GLIAC regular‑season crown in the fall.
Building on those achievements, the Bulldogs are already looking ahead. Preseason activities will take them on a two‑game swing through Minnesota, where they will meet Southwest Minnesota State University and Concordia University‑St. Paul before returning home for the season‑opening matchup against Findlay on September 4, 2026.
Adding to the excitement, the volleyball program will host the Ferris State Invitational from August 27‑29, 2026, at Bulldog Arena, and will open the season against the defending national champion MSU Denver on August 27 at 6 p.m. Eastern.
Coach Henson, who has guided the soccer team since his arrival, expressed confidence that the blend of experience and fresh talent will keep the Bulldogs competitive. ‘We’ve built a foundation that can sustain success,’ he said, noting the program’s growing fan base in Big Rapids and across Michigan.
