A New Chapter for the Cavaliers
On Tuesday, August 11, the team will host Davidson at Klöckner Stadium, kicking off at 6 p.m. The contest marks the second of three tune‑up games the squad will play as it fine‑tunes its lineup.
The exhibition comes on the heels of a 2025 season that saw the Cavaliers capture the ACC regular‑season title and finish as tournament runners‑up, while also earning a top‑four seed in the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history.
Returning stalwarts anchor the roster. Sebastian Pop logged every minute of the previous campaign, playing a full 1,720 minutes, while Marco Dos Santos contributed 12 points — including six game‑winning assists — to rank third in team scoring. Alex Parvu, Zach Ehrenpreis, and the rest of the 10‑plus‑start group provide additional experience and stability.
Adding fresh talent, the program welcomed three January transfers — Arnold Matshazi, Ethan Martinez and Peter Tolkin — who will look to make immediate impacts alongside a highly ranked signing class of eight newcomers, positioned fifth by Top Drawer Soccer.
Coach and staff have emphasized continuity, noting that Virginia is one of only three Division I programs to secure a first‑round bye in each of the past four NCAA Tournaments, a testament to sustained excellence.
