Preseason Honors
Bellarmine University’s women’s soccer program has started the new season with a wave of preseason recognition that underscores its rising profile in the ASUN Conference.
Anna Jenkins, a transfer from Marquette University, was crowned ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year after delivering a standout defensive record that includes a 1.16 goals‑against average and six shutouts over a 10‑6‑3 slate.
Joining her on the ASUN Preseason All‑ASUN Team, junior midfielder Brynn Severance earned the nod after starting all 20 matches, contributing two goals and an assist while ranking second on the squad in minutes played.
Also highlighted was Paula Herranz of Jacksonville, who captured both the Preseason Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards, reflecting her dual impact on the offensive and backline units.
Bellarmine’s double representation on the preseason team marks the second straight year the program has placed multiple players on the ASUN list, a testament to sustained recruiting and development success.
Looking Ahead
With the preseason accolades setting a high bar, the team’s coaching staff expects the early momentum to translate into a competitive campaign, especially in the upcoming ASUN Tournament where Jenkins previously delivered a key save against FGCU.
Severance’s first goal of the season came in a 3‑1 tournament win over FGCU, and her assist in a 2‑1 regular‑season victory over Lipscomb illustrates the midfield’s ability to influence both ends of the field.
