On a bright morning at the Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility, the USC football coaching staff joined forces with a group of student‑athletes to host a back‑to‑school outreach for families in the Midlands, drawing more than 120 students, parents, educators and district leaders.
The gathering, coordinated by United Way of the Midlands together with the Beamer Family Foundation, aimed to collect and pack essential school supplies into backpacks that would later be handed out to children across six local elementary schools.
Each backpack was filled with donated materials, designed to ease the financial burden of school start‑up costs for families who might otherwise go without.
Head coach Shane Beamer addressed the crowd, reflecting on his own childhood experiences and emphasizing that USC players serve as role models for the region’s youth.
A Shared Vision for Youth
Beyond the immediate distribution, the event sparked conversations about sustained mentorship programs and the importance of investing in the next generation of learners, reinforcing the idea that athletic excellence can translate into meaningful community impact.
