A fresh look for a familiar roster
Quarterback Brennan Griesch returns as the offensive centerpiece, while veteran Huxton Katt, a running back and linebacker, brings a blend of speed and experience that helped the team to a regional championship last year. Senior linebacker Will Manning, who has logged 21 varsity appearances and 200 career tackles, adds depth and leadership to the defense.
The opening matchup will pit the Spartans against Lincoln Northeast on Thursday, August 27, a game that marks the first of four Thursday night contests to start the season. Early practices are already focusing on chemistry and conditioning as the coaching staff aims to carry forward the momentum from last year’s success.
Beyond the gridiron, the team’s summer calendar includes a brief appearance at the American Legion Baseball World Series after capturing a regional Carpet Land title in North Dakota, underscoring the athletes’ versatility and community engagement.
