In August 2026, Vermont University revealed that Adam Krug would join its coaching staff as an assistant, bringing a championship pedigree and a deep understanding of player development to the program.
A Home Run for the Program
Krug arrives after a decade at Adrian University, where he compiled a 229‑52‑14 record, guided the Bulldogs to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and captured a national title in 2022. His tenure also earned him five NCHA Coach of the Year honors and the Edward Jeremiah Award as Division III Coach of the Year.
Beyond college, Krug spent two seasons with Bakersfield in the AHL and previously served as an assistant and associate coach with the Indiana Ice of the USHL, helping the team win the 2014 Clark Cup. He also played Division I hockey at Wayne State before completing his career at Adrian.
Steve Wiedler, Vermont’s head coach, described the hire as a "home run," emphasizing Krug’s AHL experience and his ability to forge strong relationships with players. The move is seen as a strategic boost for a program aiming to deepen its talent pipeline.
Adding to the narrative, Krug’s brother Torey Krug is a professional NHL defenseman, underscoring a family legacy rooted in high‑level hockey.
