The 2026 Kentucky‑Louisville college football rivalry is poised to become one of the most unpredictable matchups in recent memory, driven by a wave of player and coaching staff transfers that have reshaped both rosters.
A New Era of Rivalry
Six former Wildcats have already committed to the Cardinals, while two additional ex‑Kentucky players now wear Louisville’s colors, creating a direct pipeline of talent across the rivalry.
At Louisville, Vince Marrow, once a star recruiter for the Wildcats, now serves as the program’s executive director of football personnel and recruiting, overseeing the influx of former Kentucky talent.
Brian Simms, who previously directed recruiting for Kentucky, has returned to Louisville after a stint under former coach Mark Stoops, bringing a familiar perspective to the staff.
The Cardinals’ roster will feature former Kentucky standouts such as Montavin Quisenberry, Jacob Smith, Jerod Smith II, DJ Waller, Evan Wibberley and Tommy Ziesmer, as well as commitments Marquise Davis and Jarvis Strickland, adding depth and experience.
On the other side, Kentucky’s coaching staff includes five former Cardinals, highlighted by Will Stein, the former Louisville starting quarterback, alongside analyst Andrew Coverdale and strength coaches Brandon Roberts and Joe Miday.
