Indiana University announced that linebacker Kellan Wyatt has been reinstated to the football roster, taking advantage of an extra year of eligibility granted by a recent NCAA rule change.
A timely boost for the Hoosiers' defense
Wyatt’s return comes after he missed the team’s postseason run due to a knee injury sustained in a loss to Michigan State, a setback that also kept teammate Stephen Daley out of action.
During the seven games he played before the injury, Wyatt compiled 27 tackles, including 12 solo stops, and added eight tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and seven quarterback pressures, numbers that defensive coordinator Bryant Haines believes can still shape the unit.
Coach Curt Cignetti emphasized that Wyatt’s experience and pass‑rush ability improve the defensive outlook, while noting the staff will be patient with his recovery to avoid any setbacks.
Haines is expected to decide how Wyatt fits into the 4‑3 scheme, with the possibility of moving him to linebacker in 12‑personnel packages that emphasize versatility.
