The Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) leases the Turf Tank for $50–$150 per field, a cost that varies with the size of the job. Simon Date, an OYSA representative, and Andrew Parshall have been on‑site to oversee early deployments, ensuring the robot’s settings align with each venue’s specifications.

When a tablet connects to the robot’s base station, users input the exact dimensions and marking positions. The system then calculates an estimated completion time and paint consumption, after which the robot executes the job with millimetre‑level accuracy. Once programmed, the unit can return for touch‑ups without reconfiguration, dramatically reducing future labor.

A season defined by growth

Rainier Clatskanie Youth Soccer, the club that recently adopted the technology, serves a record 165 registered players — a milestone that reflects both the rising popularity of the sport and a steady local interest surge, partly inspired by the recent World Cup buzz. The club’s president notes that the robot’s efficiency is essential as the organization prepares for a packed schedule of matches and practices.

OYSA has thus far deployed the Turf Tank on only a handful of fields, but the goal is ambitious: to paint between 30 and 40 fields annually. If the pilot proves reliable, the model could become a standard tool for youth leagues seeking to free up volunteer time for coaching, administration, and player development.
