Colorado State head coach Jim Mora has said he will not announce his starting quarterback until the Rams open the 2026 season against Wyoming on September 5, leaving the position in flux as the team evaluates its options.

The two primary contenders are Oklahoma State transfer Hauss Hejny and UConn transfer K’saan Farrar, both of whom Mora described as highly competitive young men who will keep pushing for the job even if they are named the starter early.
Darius Curry, who spent the previous season under coach Jay Norvell, has also impressed in camp and is being viewed as another serious candidate for the role.
Mora stressed that the level of inconsistency among the quarterbacks must improve daily, noting that the competition will remain open until the staff feels confident in a clear leader.
The final decision, Mora said, will ultimately rest with the team itself, reflecting a collaborative approach to selecting the player who will take the first snap.
