The New York Islanders have launched an unprecedented fan‑driven contest to select the design of their first ever third jersey, inviting supporters to help shape the team’s visual identity for the upcoming seasons.
Fan participation reaches new heights
More than 80,490 creative submissions poured in from the Islanders’ fan base, known as Isles Nation, showcasing a breadth of artistic vision that ranged from retro motifs to futuristic graphics.
A panel of players and Hockey Operations staff reviewed the entries and narrowed the field to eight concepts, each of which will now compete in a public bracket.
Voting schedule
Voting will unfold over eight days, from August 12 to 20, 2026, with three distinct rounds that will trim the field before a final winner is crowned.
The winning design will make its on‑ice debut during the 2027‑28 NHL season, after a period of refinement that incorporates fan feedback and brand considerations.
"The level of creativity and passion displayed by our fans is extraordinary," said Kelly Cheeseman, President of Business Operations for the Islanders. "This contest underscores the deep investment Isles Nation has in the team’s identity and future."
Beyond the jersey itself, the initiative reflects a broader strategy by the franchise to deepen its connection with supporters, leveraging digital platforms to turn a traditional design process into a communal experience.
