Brynja Knudsen, a talented forward from Iceland, has earned an invitation to the Iceland Women's National U19 training camp that will be held in Reykjavik from June 1 through June 2. The call‑up marks a key milestone in her early career and highlights the growing pipeline of Icelandic talent abroad.
A Camp With a Purpose
The camp forms part of Iceland's preparations for the UEFA Women's Under‑19 Championship, scheduled to run from June 27 to July 10. In the group stage the team will face Austria, Spain and Switzerland, each opponent presenting a distinct tactical challenge that the coaching staff hopes to exploit.
Knudsen currently plays for Knattspyrnufélagið Þróttur, a club that sits fourth in the Besta Deild Kvenna. Over six seasons with the senior side she has logged 60 appearances, including four this term, and has accumulated 22 caps across various youth national squads.
Her international résumé includes five matches with the Iceland U17 side during the 2024 Euro 17 qualifiers and another five appearances with the U19 team in 2025, experiences that have sharpened her competitive edge and tactical awareness.
Knudsen will become only the second Icelandic player to join Texas A&M's women's soccer program, following in the footsteps of Ásdís Halldórsdóttir. The move underscores a growing bridge between Icelandic talent and the Aggies' recruiting pipeline, a development that excites both the national camp coaches and Texas A&M staff.
Coaches at the national camp and at Texas A&M have praised her technical ability, work ethic and adaptability, suggesting that the upcoming training stint could accelerate her transition to collegiate play in the United States.
As the summer unfolds, Knudsen aims to bring the lessons learned in Reykjavik back to College Station, where she hopes to contribute immediately to the Aggies' attacking options. The experience is expected to enrich her development both on and off the pitch.
