Key figures such as pitcher Joe Grahe, who struck out 13 batters in the championship game, and Rusty Meacham, later a Major League pitcher, credited Shaw’s rigorous training for their development; both eventually reached the majors, while catcher Kevin O'Sullivan transitioned into a celebrated college coaching career, culminating in a national title with Florida in 2017.
