A Season of Service and Scholarship
Michael Allen, a fifth‑year safety for Baylor, has been named to the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, an honor that spotlights student‑athletes who blend athletic achievement with meaningful community service. The watch list highlights players who use their platform to drive positive change, and Allen’s selection underscores his extensive outreach in the Waco area.
Over the past year Allen has logged more than 100 hours of service, ranging from preparing meals for local families to helping build homes and organizing toy drives. He also spends time reading to students, embodying the spirit of the award by turning everyday acts of kindness into lasting community impact.
Leadership On and Off the Field
Allen serves as the leader of Baylor’s Uplifting Athletes chapter, a nonprofit that raises funds for rare disease research through the efforts of student‑athletes. In the last four years he has helped generate over $10,000 for cutting‑edge research, coordinating events that bring together teammates, alumni, and community members.
On the gridiron, Allen has appeared in 28 career games, primarily as a lead blocker on kickoff returns. He recorded a career‑long return of 26 yards at SMU last season and famously played through a broken arm sustained during a kick return at Oklahoma State, refusing to leave the game before fully recovering.
Academically, Allen maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing a master’s degree in business administration. He previously earned a finance and management degree from Baylor with a 3.96 GPA, demonstrating a commitment to excellence that mirrors his athletic and service endeavors.
