DJ Chester, an offensive lineman for Mississippi State University, has been selected for the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, a preseason acknowledgment that celebrates student‑athletes who combine athletic talent with remarkable community service and academic achievement.
The Wuerffel Trophy, named for 1996 Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel, is awarded each year to an FBS player who demonstrates leadership through humanitarian efforts, maintaining a high GPA and contributing to society beyond the gridiron.
Community Impact
Chester’s commitment to service is evident through his JDC Thrive Foundation, which recently partnered with the Dream Center Golden Triangle’s Bedz 4 Kidz program to provide safe sleeping spaces for children in need. The initiative mobilized more than 20 volunteers from the Mississippi State football roster, collectively assembling bedding kits for families across the region.
Prior to his current role, Chester logged 24 appearances with 14 starts at Louisiana State University, earning Freshman All‑SEC honors and a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2024, underscoring his blend of athletic promise and scholarly discipline.
