Edwin Spillman, a junior linebacker from Tennessee, has been selected for the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, a honor that celebrates student‑athletes who excel on the field, in the classroom and in their communities.
Service Beyond the Gridiron
Spillman’s dedication to service reaches far beyond his campus, where he has contributed more than 120 hours with the Wan Fambul Foundation in Sierra Leone, supporting initiatives in food security, education, housing and child welfare.
His off‑field impact complements a rapid rise on the gridiron; last season he earned Freshman All‑America and All‑SEC honors and led all freshmen in the SEC with 81 tackles.
The Wuerffel Trophy, established in 2005 and named for Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel, remains the premier award for collegiate players who blend athletic achievement with leadership and humanitarian work. This year, 113 candidates are under consideration, and semifinalists will be announced in September.
Should Spillman advance, the final winner will be revealed on December 11, joining a lineage of athletes who have leveraged their platform to drive tangible global change.
