The 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy watch list has been unveiled, spotlighting collegiate athletes who excel on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities.
Among the nominees is Ole Miss defensive lineman Will Echoles, a senior who returns for his third season after earning All‑Conference and All‑America honors in 2025.
Echoles capped his breakout year with a standout performance in the Sugar Bowl, where he was named Defensive MVP after recording five tackles, two for loss, and two pass breakups against Georgia.
A Dual Threat of Service and Performance
Beyond his on‑field production, Echoles has been recognized for his academic commitment and his extensive community service, qualities that align with the trophy’s core mission.
His statistical impact is equally impressive, having posted 68 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks last season, numbers that helped secure his preseason selections to the Outland Trophy, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, and all‑SEC first team.
The watch list will be trimmed to 11 semifinalists in September, with the ultimate winner to be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards on December 11.
Ole Miss, fresh off a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance, is slated to open its 2026 campaign against Louisville at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on September 6, a game that will further showcase Echoles’ leadership on a national stage.
