Marcus Moller, the 7‑foot‑3 center who signed with the University of Michigan last November, took to Instagram to share a personal milestone: he is now cancer‑free after being diagnosed with testicular cancer in January 2026. The announcement, posted alongside a photo of the player in a Michigan jersey, quickly amassed thousands of supportive comments from fans, teammates and staff alike.
Moller’s basketball résumé includes stints with Malaga (ESP) Unicaja and the Denmark Youth National Teams, where he showcased his versatility as a rim‑protector and low‑post scorer. At the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket he averaged 13.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.7 blocks per game, drawing the attention of several top programs before committing to the Wolverines.
In his post, Moller expressed deep gratitude for the medical team, coaches and teammates who stood by him throughout chemotherapy and recovery. “The love and encouragement I received from the staff and players gave me the strength to keep fighting,” he wrote, emphasizing how the support network helped him stay focused on both health and basketball.
A New Chapter in Ann Arbor
Moller is slated to join the Michigan men’s basketball program over the summer, becoming the first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class. The class, ranked No. 2 nationally, features six freshmen and three transfers, a group the coaching staff believes can keep the Wolverines competitive after their recent national championship.
Coach Dusty May welcomed Moller’s resilience, noting that his experience across European leagues and international competition will add depth and perspective to the squad. “Marcus brings a unique blend of size, skill and mental toughness,” May said. “We’re excited to see how he integrates into our system and contributes to the next chapter of Michigan basketball.”
