Brandon Henderson, a senior offensive lineman for the University of Illinois, has been named to the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy preseason watch list, a honor that spotlights college football players who combine athletic excellence with remarkable community service.
Leadership Beyond the Gridiron
Henderson’s reputation stretches far beyond his 6‑foot‑5, 320‑pound frame. Over the past three seasons he has logged 35 appearances, including 19 starts in the last two years, helping the Fighting Illini secure a program‑record 19 victories and back‑to‑back bowl wins over ranked opponents.
His on‑field contributions are matched by a disciplined approach to academics, earning him two selections to the Academic All‑Big Ten team, a testament to his ability to balance rigorous studies with a demanding athletic schedule.
Service Through Structured Programs
Off the field, Henderson devotes time to several initiatives that reflect his commitment to mentorship and social equity. He serves on the leadership team of EMPOWER, a student‑athlete affinity group that supports students of color through community building and advocacy.
