A Legacy of 32 Years
Matt Hill, now in his 14th year as head coach, also marks his 32nd season overall with the team, having compiled a 107‑35 record that reflects sustained success.
This year the squad will field 14 returning starters, providing continuity and experience. Among them are senior wide receiver/defensive back Josiah Mendoza, two‑year starter Lane Proctor, and team captain Michael Beck, each bringing distinct strengths to the roster.
A Coaching Tree Growing
Hill’s influence extends beyond the field, as five former players now serve on his staff, forming a coaching tree that reinforces continuity and shared purpose.
The Lions are known for a physical, running‑heavy style that emphasizes accountability and teamwork, a philosophy that shapes both offensive and defensive schemes.
The season opener is scheduled for August 28 at Farwell, kicking off at 7 p.m., and the team hopes to translate offseason work into a strong start, aiming to improve on their 6‑4 finish from 2025 and push toward a deeper playoff run.
