UCLA’s men’s basketball program revealed this week that it will welcome four transfer athletes for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign, a move that deepens the roster ahead of the new season.
Filip Jovic, Sergej Macura, Jaylen Petty and Azavier Robinson each bring a distinct blend of experience, having navigated varied collegiate and international circuits before arriving in Westwood.
European Roots and Freshman Promise
Macura, now a junior with two years of eligibility remaining, previously shared the court with Jovic at KK Mega Basket in the Adriatic Basketball Association, where both honed their skills in a high‑competitive environment.
Jovic, Petty and Robinson will join the Bruins as sophomores, each carrying three years of eligibility. Jovic’s stint at Auburn saw him contribute 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds over 37 games, helping the team capture the NIT title. Macura logged 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in 28 appearances for Mississippi State last season, while Petty posted 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists as a freshman at Texas Tech. Robinson added 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game during his freshman year at Butler.
Coach Mick Cronin expressed confidence that the newcomers will make an immediate impact, especially on the glass and in the scoring department. He noted that their diverse backgrounds and proven track records should translate into tangible gains for the team’s rebounding and offensive output.
The transfers will arrive alongside incoming freshmen Javonte Floyd and Joe Philon, completing a recruiting class that blends veteran savvy with fresh talent. The Bruins hope the combined experience will position them strongly within the competitive Pac‑12 landscape.
