Indiana University announced that linebacker Kellan Wyatt will return to the roster for the upcoming season, having secured an additional year of eligibility through recent NCAA rule changes.
Wyatt’s previous campaign was cut short by a knee injury sustained in a 38‑13 loss to Michigan State, a setback that kept him out of the team’s playoff run.
Before the injury, he had compiled 27 tackles, 12 solo stops, 8 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks and 7 quarterback pressures across seven games, underscoring his impact on the defensive front.
Coach Curt Cignetti emphasized that Wyatt’s health remains the top priority, noting the team will exercise patience to ensure a full recovery before he steps back onto the field.
Cignetti also mentioned that fellow injured player Stephen Daley could resume practice as early as next week, while Wyatt’s recovery is progressing slightly slower.
Defensive coordinator Bryant Haines is evaluating how best to integrate Wyatt, weighing a return to his former defensive line spot or exploring his versatility within 4‑3 personnel packages and 12‑personnel schemes.
